Medicaid changes being felt in local mental-health community
Care providers in Athens are noticing the impact that the state’s Medicaid changes have had on clients, and are concerned about the consequences that a reduction in care for the mentally ill will have on the community.
Mental health officials in Athens say the problem is a reduction in Community Psychiatric Support Treatment.
While Gov. John Kasich’s budget, which was implemented last June, increased funding for the mental health sector by 5.7 percent, it also limited the amount of hours of CPST to 104 hours a year, or two hours a week.
